Washed Ashore – art to save the sea – Bandon, Oregon

Washed Ashore is an art exhibit where plastic pollution from the ocean is turned into art to raise awareness. It’s a great place to visit, both beautiful and haunting at the same time. The art pieces are amazing, but when you think beyond the aesthetics, you realize the real problem behind it all. Tremendous amounts of plastic are floating around in gigantic swirls of garbage in the ocean, eventually washing up on shorelines around the world or being consumed by sea life. Art pieces from Washed Ashore tour the country in places like the Smithsonian. It was an eye-opening experience.
