Springtime out West (what we’ve been up to since COVID hit the fan)

When we left Florida way back in the days before border closures, quarantinis, and toilet paper shortages, we drove due west along the gulf coast. We made it to Texas from Florida in one day. We created a Gulf Shore/Bayou playlist as we went (see below—we’re dorks) and had a fun drive. We didn’t make any stops, so we’ll have to put a pin in the region and return to spend some time here down the road. We were on a mission to head north from Texas to Kansas to spend time with family❤. By the time we left Kansas, coronavirus coverage had exploded. But they say the virus can’t last too long—after all, it was made in China.

GULF SHORE/BAYOU PLAYLIST

  • “Sweet Home Alabama” Lynyrd Skynrd
  • “Mississippi Queen” Mountain
  • “Born on the Bayou” Credence Clearwater Revival
  • “Louisiana Bayou” Dave Matthews Band
  • “Callin’ Baton Rouge” Garth Brooks
  • “Proud Mary” Credence Clearwater Revival
  • “La Grange” ZZ Top
  • “God Blessed Texas” Little Texas

KANSAS

We’ve spent time on the golden prairies of Kansas many times now. And always can’t wait to return❤. We played tag on top of the rows and rows of giant hay bales at the ranch below. What a fun experience.

TEXAS

So now we are social distancing to help flatten the curve in the hill country of Texas. In these times of isolating, hoarding, and shortages at the supermarket, we all may have to be a bit resourceful…just let’s not resort to eating any bats.
