We rode a cable car over the Spokane River and Falls—right in downtown! And these water features are not only beautiful, but useful too. Two dams generate hydroelectric power. We had so much fun in this city. Scooters, pedal karts, and roller skates are available for rent. You can also purchase tickets for the spider jump and large carousel. We thought the tickets were reasonably priced, especially if you buy the kids a summer value wristband, which includes the cable car, spider jump, scooter and unlimited carousel rides. (We purchased an additional spider jump ticket because Jackson wanted to go a second time, as well as a pedal kart ticket which is not included with the wristband.)
Jackson had a hard time parting with his pedal kart. There are paved paths all throughout the green space/park downtown where kids and adults can both ride (or stroll leisurely). Razor scooters are available in kid-size, which Jackson had fun riding, and electric scooters are available for rent throughout the city in adult-size. None of us rented roller skates, but there is a track for it in summer, which becomes an ice skate ribbon in winter. There is also a splash pad fountain area for those hot days.
The carousel ride is not like any other that we’ve seen. It is so much more interactive! Kids try to grab rings from a dispenser as they ride by, and then attempt to toss them into a garbage goat’s pale. Oh, we haven’t mentioned the garbage goat yet?? This statue helps keep the city tidy by vacuuming your trash into its mouth! Jackson loved the spider jump too. After weighing you, attendants help you into a harness and let you jump as high as you might on individual trampolines—back and front flips encouraged! The park is also home to an enormous Radio Flyer wagon whose handle is a sliding board.
