San Antonio, Texas

We did our outdoor exercise on the San Antonio River Walk this weekend and enjoyed it immensely. It was good for our minds and bodies. The weather was gorgeous (mid-eighties and sunny with a gentle breeze), and the walk was beautiful. It follows the San Antonio River right downtown, one story below the streets. People were out walking, biking and fishing (well over six feet apart). We also supported a local business that was open by buying some ice cream waffle cones.

Headlines say the water is running clearer since the covid lockdown, similar to the Venice canals.
Wildlife stays calm and carries on

Beside the River Walk is the Alamo. It’s closed due to coronavirus, but you can see it from the street. It’s located in downtown San Antonio. In the 1700s it wasn’t always easy to convince people to settle in the western U.S. Spain solved this problem through missionaries, who raised their hands for the effort because of their desire to spread Christianity by converting native Americans. The Alamo was one of the missions set up in Texas.

We picked up this book at a thrift store over the summer. This seems like a timely week to read it. We’re going to learn why it’s important to Remember the Alamo! ๐Ÿ˜„

    1. We expected the Alamo to be in a dusty desert with tumbleweeds rolling by, but it turns out it’s in the heart of downtown San Antonio ๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŒต
