Soo…we’ve been living like snowbirds for the past month. Florida is pretty crowded in the winter, as one might expect, since the temperatures are a magnet. But where there are lots of tourists there is lots to do to keep oneself busy.
DISNEY BIRTHDAY
Magic Kingdom was fun as always. The weather was great (which is not always a given on a Florida winter day—today happens to be 57 deg. for example). The entrance was not so great. A lot of renovation is happening out front right now and it seemed to take a lot longer to actually enter the park than on our visit four years ago. But, no true complaints, as we had a really wonderful day. And it was Jackson’s birthday! We stayed for the fireworks for the first time. That was a treat. In the past we’ve been too tired to stay. We didn’t realize that there is a whole show involved in watching the fireworks, with characters projected onto the castle, music, and a narrated theme. It was truly wonderful. Except at times when we had to watch the event through other peoples’ cell phones that were held up in front of us to record the show. (Ok sorry! No more complaints! lol)
TAMPA RV SUPERSHOW
If you’ve never been to an RV show, go to one if you get a chance. They’re a lot of fun, even if you have no interest in buying a coach. Kids love going, and the entrance fee is nominal. Some of these units are mind-blowing OTT. They can be nicer than a house! You can tour the RVs at your leisure; it’s pretty fun. And in the case of the Tampa show, there is a carnival-like atmosphere. It’s held at the fairgrounds and is complete with carnival foodstands and entertainment. Lots of fun.
VERO BEACH
We always spend a day at Vero Beach when we visit Florida. It’s on the Atlantic side and is a low-key beautiful beach. Free parking. (Cocoa Beach is $15 parking btw, forgot to mention that in a previous post.) We parked at South Beach Park this time (it seems like we always unintentionally end up at a different lot). Red flags were out as the waves were huge that day. So we didn’t swim, but we took a long walk, played frisbee, jumped in the surf, and before we knew it five-and-a-half hours had flown by.
Wonderful photos! Wonderful Vannessa, JD and Jackson! What a nice Blog! So glad you keep in touch. I sure enjoy reading and seeing your posts. Would you like to know we are freezing up here in Pa. lol! Love You, Gramma
I was never at Vera Beach looks really nice!
