Colonial Williamsburg

In November of last year we visited Colonial Williamsburg. It was on this visit that we noticed the period costumes for rent. Unfortunately it was too cold to wear them at the time, but Jackson and I knew we had to return in the summertime to try this experience. Jeremy didn’t share our enthusiasm, but was supportive and accommodating!

In June one of the first stops on our journey was the costume rental rack in the Colonial Williamsburg visitor’s center gift shop. (Funny side note, the credit card company called to check whether this was a fraudulent charge, and I sheepishly explained that I was making a deposit on costumes in Colonial Williamsburg, at which the customer service rep kindly chuckled.)

We arrived as soon as the shop opened so that we’d be leaving the town as the weather got to its hottest for the day. But still, it was pretty toasty wearing full clothing. Poor colonials! It was definitely a fun experience to wear the costumes and we shared a lot of laughs. Several tourists thought we worked there and asked us questions; we tried to be helpful. We ate again at Josiah Chowning’s Tavern—so yum! We learned that Colonial Williamsburg is fun in all seasons.
